Congratulations on a great back-into-the-swim-of-things meet at Georgia Tech this past weekend! For some of us it went more smoothly than for others, but it definitely helped to get out all those pre-season bugs. By the end of the meet, we coaches could tell you were really getting back into the groove.
For some swimmers, the congratulations extends to their first meet EVER! For Francisco Viera, Esteban Garcia and Ginny Darnell, they completed their first swim meet and did so with flying colors! Francisco swam the 200 Free and got, as Alyssa calls them, "MAD CLAPS," from the entire natatorium. Esteban found his racing legs, and Ginny completed a 200 IM, a difficult race even for some experienced swimmers.
Other events of note: Jay Fulford and Sabien Lively achieved all personal bests at this meet! Incredible! This was also Ethan Coker, Wilson Rodriguez, and Isabel Rodriguez's first year round meet. They swam races that were all twice the distance or more of any event they competed in this summer!
All in all, your coaches were very pleased with our season-starting meet. Thanks for your patience and practice! We swam some great times. Remember, in the process of goal-setting, we should be comparing our times to times we had achieved last year at this point in the season. We had lots of swimmers crack those times and some of us even shaved more than a couple seconds!
