Hooray for Summer! It's not officially summer yet, but with 88 swimmers already registered, a practice meet now under our belts, and the pool temperature finally warmer than 71 degrees, it sure is starting to feel like it. Welcome back to all our returning Barracudas and ... WELCOME New Barracudas!
Thank you to all the parents and swimmers who made it to the Practice Meet. We had a lot of fun watching our new Barracudas learn the ropes. Your participation helped us move things along and even got us out ahead of schedule! If you would like to see how your swimmers/timers did, the results are already posted to the website.
Our first real meet of the season is coming up, June 3rd! Bring those cameras and send us some pictures of your swimmers if you want a chance for them to appear on the Barracuda blog this season. Remember to volunteer! Your kids want you to be a part of their summer fun as much as we do! We honestly can't run meets without your participation. Parents make the meets go round! We have plenty of opportunities and positions available for you to get the full swim team experience. Try them all and let us know which is your favorite! I can't wait to start updating you on how well our swimmers are doing at our meets and to put some pictures up of their beautiful faces. Get ready to dive in! Happy New Year Round Season! We're well into our third week of our 2012-2013 year round season and things (and swimmers) are really shaping up! We have 41 swimmers on roster this season, and we hope to gain a few more as the season continues.
Welcome to all our new year round faces: Mia Bates Helena Cadavid Victoria Cadavid Jocelyn Carpenter Jacob Costantino Shelby Edling Jay Fulford Kelly Koistinen Sabien Lively Marc Moody Abigail Negru Charlie Souther Eliya Williams Pictured: Clara Moody (*Photo provided by John Kelley) Swimmers did a fantastic job at our Swim-a-Thon last Friday! A great number of you swam much more than you thought you could, and many of you swam a mile or more.
As Matthew Skutar-Guzner said to us afterwards, "I thought I could only swim 5, but then I swam 18 laps! I surprised myself!" Great job! I'd give you the statistical rundown of how many laps our Barracudas swam, but I'd hate to ruin the surprise at the banquet this year. You'll just have to wait and see. Money for Swim-a-Thon will be due next Wednesday, July 11th. Remember, this money will be spent to benefit your swimmers by purchasing better equipment, awards, and fun days. Please donate however much you see fit. Each family's goal should be to provide $25, but we will take whatever we can get! Every dollar helps. Thank you in advance for your donations. This is our last week of practice before District. We're expecting to see a lot of time drops and state qualifiers this Saturday! Keep up the good work ethic you've been practicing all summer and we are going to see a lot of personal bests. |
